Biography
Sultan Al-Azri, PhD, is an assistant professor of media studies at Sultan Qaboos University’s College of Arts and Social Sciences, working in both Arabic and English academic contexts.

Teaching
He teaches Introduction to Mass Communication (أعلم 1112) and Communication Media in the Arabian Gulf (أعلم 4030), and has also contributed to Graphic Design for TV (MASS4231), where his focus is practical, lab-oriented instruction — most recently a hands-on Apple Motion motion-tracking module built around a real shot list for self-shot broadcast footage.
Doctoral Research
His doctoral thesis, Mediating the Muslim Public Sphere — Voice, Identity & Inclusion in Contemporary Media Environments, was successfully defended and is written in a three-article format:
- Community radio — a case study of Fever FM in Yorkshire
- Digital deliberation — an examination of Sablat Oman
- Gendered religious authority online — a study of SROFIs (Sunni Religious Online Female Influencers) on Instagram
